Drag Pak Proves to Be a Challenger at the Track

Leading the charge this year in NHRA sportsman racing is veteran Mopar® championship driver and team owner Jeff Teuton, who fields a Mopar-backed Dodge Challenger Drag Pak supercharged HEMI® engine car, with 2015 NHRA Stock Eliminator Champion Kevin Helms behind the wheel. Helms won his ’15 title in Teuton’s 426 HEMI engine Drag Pak Challenger.

Teuton, you may know, has won multiple NHRA sportsman titles and championships. He has also been honored with the prestigious Presidents Award from Mopar for a lifetime of loyalty to the brand, and is a successful FCA US dealer in Houma, Louisiana.

Both Teuton and Helms are excited to get to racing since the team will field a new, supercharged Drag Pak car for the first time.

“We have a lot of work to do,” noted Helms. “Others have been racing supercharged cars for a few years, so we’re trying to catch up quickly. Luckily, with Jeff Teuton, we have the resources and lots of experience.”

Helms knows the difficulty of being competitive and finding the funding for sportsman racers, that’s why he’s such a fan of
contingency programs like the Drag Pak Rewards Program.

“I raced on a small budget most of my career,” he said. “Sponsorship is hard to find. Even when we were winning multiple championships, we depended on contingency programs. Unless you have deep pockets, that’s just the way it is.”
