MOPAR® RETURNS TO TOP FUEL
Mopar. and Pennzoil. have partnered to sponsor the Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) Top Fuel Dragster driven by Leah Pritchett. The announcement in July marked the return of the brand to the class in which Mopar first established its reputation for excellence at the dragstrip.
“We are extremely excited to team up with our partners at Pennzoil in our return to competition in the Top Fuel class,” said Pietro Gorlier, Head of Pats and Service (Mopar), FCA – Global. “A key part of the Mopar DNA has always been going fast at the track. We welcome Leah Pritchett to the Mopar team and will cheer her on as she drives us forward in Top Fuel.”
Pritchett debuted the blue Omega M on her dragster at the 37th annual Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals at Bandimere Speedway near Denver, July 22.
TWICE THE HONOR
NHRA Sportsman competitor Jeff Teuton logged two memorable moments at the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals. Teuton, a loyal Mopar racer, car owner, and sponsor with over 55 years of drag racing success, was invited to attend the event as the Honorary Starter. On Sunday before eliminations, he was honored again as Bill Harry, Director of Marketing, Mopar; Dale Aldo, Mopar Motorsports Marketing Manager; and Ross McGinnis, Vice President – Parts Sales and Field Operations, Mopar, presented him with the prestigious Mopar President’s Award, a lifetime achievement award for motorsports contributions by loyal Mopar motorsports pioneers and legends. Teuton was the first racer to win Stock Eliminator at Indy as a driver, then later a Stock Eliminator championship as an owner, with a modern era package car – a Mopar Drag Pak Challenger. Previous winners of the Mopar President’s Award include the father and son Pro Stock team of Roy and Allen Johnson in 2013, the “Father of the HEMI enigine,” Tom Hoover in 2014, and drag racing legend “Big Daddy” Don Garlits and Don Schumacher in 2015.
