MY FIRST MOPAR

I want to say your magazine is great. I’ve been a “brand X” vehicle owner from the day I was 14-years-old. Now 46, I own my first Mopar. It’s a Mopar ’10 Challenger – No. 496 of 500. My friend has one too – No. 497. I discovered the owner of the No. 495 Mopar ’10 lives in my area too. And, all three of us plan to meet for lunch. I love my car and keep it clean 24/7. I have the Mopar bug in me now and I’m looking at a Ram R/T.

Wow! Congratulation on the purchase of your first Mopar—and the first Mopar branded vehicle, no less! You must be thrilled! From all of us at Mopar Magazine, welcome to the Mopar Nation!—Ed.

MOPAR PISTOL GRIP

I’ve only purchased Mopars since 1964 and I recently purchased a 2011 Challenger R/T with 6-speed. I noticed in the March/April 2011 Mopar Magazine issue an article on p. 6 titled “#1 of 500 – The First Mopar Branded Vehicle” a picture of a REAL pistol grip shifter—just like my 1970 R/T had. Where can I get one? Love the magazine.

The Mopar Pistol Grip, P/N P5155458, is available through your local dealer or via the Mopar eStore at Mopar.com. The lightweight short-throw assembly exclusively features the Mopar name on the lever and fits 2009–2011 Dodge Challengers with manual transmissions.—Ed.

NV T350 MAINTENANCE

I have 252,000 miles on my 2001 PT Cruiser with manual trans and want to replace the fluid. What type of fluid should I use? What’s the fluid capacity?
George Smith
Douglas, Ariz.

The fluid capacity of the NV T350 (A-578) 5-speed manual transaxle used in the 2001 PT Cruiser is approximately 2.8 qts (2.7L). The fluid level should be within 3/16 inch from the bottom of the transaxle fill hole—the vehicle must be level when checking.
Fill with Mopar Manual Transaxle Lubricant, P/N 04874465, meeting Chrysler Group LLC MS-9417 (shown above). Do not use hypoid gear lube, engine oil, and/or automatic transmission fluid in this transaxle. Hard shifting effort, bearing, gear, and/or synchronizer failure may occur if the incorrect fluid is used.—Ed.

MOPAR JACKET

I am looking for a single layer Mopar jacket. Where can I purchase one?
Alonzo Long
Via e-mail

Thank you for your inquiry, Alonzo. There are Mopar jackets (one example above) available via the “Mopar Gear” link at Mopar.com.—Ed.

BILL ‘MAVERICK’ GOLDEN

I would like to know what Bill “Maverick” Golden is up to. I don’t recall seeing anything about him in any recent publications.
Keith Simning
Isanti, Minn.

Thanks for the letter, Keith. You can read about Bill Golden at www.allpar.com/racing/maverick.html. Bill was inducted into the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame in 2003. He retired ten years ago, and now spends his time fishing.—Ed.

CHRYSLER 300 GRILLE

I recently saw a wire mesh style grille on a 2005 Chrysler 300 that I really like. Does Mopar have one for my 2006 Chrysler 300?
Lisa Guyot
Leesburg, Fla.

Yes, Mopar has a wire mesh grille for your 2006 Chrysler 300, P/N 77DUB01020 (above). Featuring stainless-steel wire mesh, this chrome grille includes the Chrysler winged badge and can be ordered at Mopar.com.—Ed.
