Mopar® Power Works for Hagan at Track—and Cattle Farm

When Matt Hagan’s Mopar® HEMI®-powered Dodge Charger R/T NHRA Funny Car makes run after super-fast run at the drag strip, it’s referred to as “haulin’ the mail.” And when it comes time to haul such things as hay and cattle at his family’s 500-acre Angus cattle farm at home in Virginia, Hagan also chooses Mopar power to get the job done.

Hagan, runner-up in the 2010 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Funny Car championship battle, recently purchased a brand-new Ram 5500 Chassis Cab to assist him in his second job. The 28-year-old NHRA star raved about his new Ram work truck in the way his growing legions of fans rave about him.

“I put a flat bed with a bell bed on the Ram 5500 to unload and roll out hay on the farm,” said Hagan. “That 5500 is a real truck. It would flat pull a house down if you hooked it up to it. Mopar power gets it done both at and away from the track.”

Hagan bought the truck from Shelor Motor Mile, his family’s dealership in Christiansburg, Va. The facility sells vehicles for a number of manufacturers, giving Hagan the chance to choose from a wide range of trucks. One clearly stood out head and shoulders above its competitors: Ram.

“I had the opportunity to drive any truck that I wanted. I tried them all out, and the Ram was the one I liked,” said Hagan of his new work ride. “You can’t have a load of cattle broke down on the side of the road. That’s why I chose the Ram 5500, and it’s been a great truck so far. I’m very happy with it.”

Mopar Dodge Avenger NHRA Pro Stock driver Allen Johnson gave 36 high
school students from his hometown of Greeneville, Tenn. a free trip to a B.R.A.K.E.S. (Be Responsible and Keep Everyone Safe) driving school at zMAX Dragway in Charlotte, N.C. on Saturday, Dec. 4.

B.R.A.K.E.S. was founded by NHRA Top Fuel driver Doug Herbert after his two young sons lost their lives in an automobile accident. Johnson donated $10,000 to help fund two B.R.A.K.E.S. schools, with one dedicated to students from Greeneville. The Team Mopar veteran also paid to bus the local students and
their parents from Greeneville to Charlotte and provided lunch and dinner for participants.

“The free school was absolutely awesome,” said Johnson. “I received one e-mail from a parent saying they were sure a life was saved by funding the school, and I was really glad to hear that.” For more information on B.R.A.K.E.S., visit www.putonthebrakes.org.
