My car (#71) is pictured in the Neon racing article on p. 25 in the November/December 2010 issue of Mopar Magazine. It is great to reminisce about the fun and success of those days. All the best, and my greetings to Renée Rogers! Cheers.

Thanks for the letter, Larry. For details on the Neon ACR’s development—a follow-up to the November/December Mopar Magazine Heritage story—turn to pages 25–27 in this issue.—Ed.
The article named “Road Noise” about Chrysler road racing shows a ‘54 Dodge (not Plymouth) in the lead photo. The caption then states Plymouths had HEMI engines in production cars and the race. Plymouth did NOT share the early HEMI engine. Dodge vehicles like the car pictured, did. I am the previous-to-current owner of the only extant ‘53 Chrysler Special, built for the Carrera Panamericana. For information about that car, now under prep for vintage road racing by Owen Grigg in New Zealand, visit http://www.thehemi.com/notable.php?id=011. Seems also like it would have been appropriate to mention that Carl Kiekhaefer who fielded the team of Chrysler 300s in ‘50s NASCAR and AAA racing caught the passion after entering New Yorkers in the ‘52 and ‘53 Carrera. There is a lot more story about Chrysler racing and I hope it gets coverage some day. Thanks.

Thank you for the note, Wayne. We like to think we have the best history on Chrysler racing, but always appreciate corrections. We look forward to hearing more from you on the Carrera and early Chrysler NASCAR racing.—Ed.
(Right) 2010 Dodge Challenger R/T Furious Fuchsia edition, interior.
I own a 2010 Dodge Challenger R/T Classic Furious Fuchsia. I want to know more about this vehicle.

Thank you for your inquiry, Larry. A limited-production run of Dodge Challenger R/T Classic editions in Furious Fuchsia were built. Based on the powerful 2010 Dodge Challenger R/T, the Dodge Challenger R/T Classic Furious Fuchsia edition features dual throwback A-line body-side R/T stripes in Matte Black or Bright White. Completing the look are “Challenger” fender badges in classic script, large 20-inch polished-aluminum heritage wheels with all-season performance tires, classic egg-crate grille with heritage “R/T” badge, body-color rear spoiler, functional hood scoop and bright racing style fuel-filler door.
On the interior, the trapezoidal theme of the door-panel and gauge cluster, dark headliner and slanted shifter console are inspired by the original Dodge Challenger. Inspiration from the past continues with exclusive Pearl White performance seats accented with Dark Slate Gray and Furious Fuchsia French-seamed stitching as a factory-installed option. Monotone Dark Slate Gray leather performance seats and center console armrest with Furious Fuchsia accent stitching are standard.
When paired with the Tremec six-speed manual transmission, the 2010 Dodge Challenger R/T Classic Furious Fuchsia edition includes the performance-minded Track Pak with precision-shift “pistol-grip” shifter, anti-spin 3.92 differential and a performance-tuned dual exhaust with two low-restriction bottle resonators for maximum “throatiness.” And when it’s time to deliver, the Furious Fuchsia R/T Classic can accelerate from 0–60 mph in less than six seconds with its powerful 376 horsepower (280 kW) and 410 lb.-ft. of torque (556 N•m) 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 engine.—Ed.
