Mopar® made its presence felt at the world’s largest one-day celebration of classic-car culture, the 16th annual Woodward Dream Cruise on Saturday, Aug. 21. More than one million visitors had the chance to check out Mopar vehicles and performance parts at the corner of 13 Mile and Woodward in Royal Oak, Mich.
“The Woodward Dream Cruise is the perfect place to showcase our Mopar brand,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO – Mopar Service, Parts and Customer Care. “During this event, Woodward Avenue was over-flowing with enthusiasts and we showed them what’s new at Mopar.”
The Mopar ’10 Challenger, a “Mopar modified” 2010 Challenger R/T and the first-ever special-edition Mopar version of a Chrysler Group vehicle, was one of many Mopar rides joining the more than 40,000 vehicles that packed the Dream Cruise. The Mopar Direct Connection Test Lab vehicle, used to demonstrate Mopar performance parts, was also on display.
Other Mopar vehicles appearing included The General, a “Moparized” Jeep® Wrangler created by the Mopar off-road engineering team. The General made its debut earlier this year at the Moab Jeep Safari. Also there was a 2010 Ram Laramie Crew 4x4 trimmed in a variety of Mopar parts and accessories. Visitors also got an up-close look at Mopar parts and engines on exhibit and talked directly with Mopar engineers.
Two additional Mopar® enthusiasts and their vehicles have joined the ranks of 2010 Mopar “Top Eliminator” winners. Jerry Stallard (top) of Columbia Station, Ohio, took home “Top Eliminator” honors at the Midwest Mopars in the Park event for his 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T SE. Scott Buck (bottom) of East Greeneville, Pa., earned the award at the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals for his 1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee.
Stallard finished the restoration of his Dodge Challenger the weekend prior to the Midwest Mopars in the Park. The project utilized a number of genuine Mopar Performance parts, including a Mopar Performance Air Filter Assembly and Mopar Valve Covers. Stallard and his wife, Victoria, currently own eight Chrysler Group vehicles. Buck found his Super Bee 10 years ago and spent several years on the restoration. The completed vehicle is filled with Mopar parts, including a Mopar Performance Cam, Valve Covers and Intake Manifold.
The Mopar “Top Eliminator” program, now in its’ fourth year, recognizes the most skilled Mopar enthusiasts and their restyled or customized vehicles. Six Mopar “Top Eliminator” winners will be selected throughout the year at various events and through online submissions. The winning vehicles will be displayed in the Mopar Alley at the 2010 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nov. 2–5.
