Thank you for publishing the story on my 1970 Dodge Challenger on page 38 in the March/April 2010 issue of Mopar Magazine . The black 2008 Dodge Challenger parked next to my purple ‘70 Challenger (above) belongs to my wife’s sister. She purchased it new and it’s a numbered special edition. She loves the car! Guess my love for Mopar has rubbed off on many—not just my son and grandson. Thanks again for everything and especially publishing my car story. I still love it as much as the first day I saw her.

No problem, Steve. Thank you for submitting your story and for you interest in Mopar Magazine. Both you and your sister-in-law have great looking Dodge Challengers! As you know, her 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8® is one of only 6,400 limited-edition numbered dash plaque Challengers made in that model year. And, all 2008 Dodge Challengers are SRT8 (6.1L HEMI®) models—SE (3.5L V-6) and R/T (5.7L HEMI) Challenger models arrived in the 2009 model year.—Ed.
I’m writing to thank my boss, George Poteet, for letting me drive his rocket ship, the Blowfish Barracuda this year at the Bonneville Nationals. Let me tell you, that turbocharged Dodge Cup motor at only 10 pounds boost makes the Blowfish so fast it’s mind bending. On August 19, 2010 we topped out at 290.9 mph and set a new B Gas record of 278.180 mph, which broke the old record by almost 30 mph. Rad Rides by Troy built the car, and it is a dream to drive, even with an 11-mph crosswind—just one mph shy of the limit that shuts down the salt flats for runs.

Thanks, Danny, for telling us about your “rad ride” at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Readers should note that Danny rode this beautiful Mopar show car right into the Bonneville 200 MPH Club, the holy grail of land speed racing. Members include Craig Breedlove, Malcolm and Donald Campbell, Don Garlits, Andy Granatelli, Andy Green, Phil Hill, Bobby Isaac, Sir Stirling Moss, Mickey Thompson and Bobby Unser as well as Danny’s employer George Poteet, who is not only in the 2 Club, but also in the 300 MPH Chapter—and he set a record this year at 404 mph.
Jim Hill and I both enjoyed the Mopar Garage article in the May/June 2010 issue of Mopar Magazine. Thank you for a fantastic job—we both really appreciate all you have done. Jim can’t stop talking about the pictures. Take care.

We’re glad you enjoyed the article. On behalf of our staff, thank you for the kind words about Mopar Magazine.—Ed.
Just thought I’d share this photo of a cute gal with a Dodge Charger SRT8® Super Bee. The photo was taken at the 2010 Carlisle Chrysler Nationals in early July. I’ve been attending this event for many years and always have a great time!

I’m looking for a Mopar Heritage story—specifically, the article with information on Tommy Thompson, the driver who won the famous 1951 Detroit NASCAR race in a Chrysler HEMI.

The General Feature article, that included information on Tommy Thompson winning the 1951 Motor City 250 in Detroit, was published in the September/October 2009 issue of Mopar Magazine, page 9. You can view this MM issue—along with many other back issues—by visiting Mopar.com > MoLIFE > Mopar Magazine Online Edition > Archives.—Ed.
