Authentic Collision Repair Parts by Mopar® are the only parts engineered with the same teams that create factory-authorized vehicle specifications for your customer’s Chrysler, Jeep®, Dodge or Ram vehicle. In fact, Mopar’s sheet metal parts are the only parts manufactured from the same stamping dies used in the production of your customer’s vehicle—providing an exact fit that’s precise and good-as-new with no odd gaps or slightly off alignments between adjacent panels.
Aftermarket parts can’t boast that degree of precision. In fact, studies show that generic parts deviate considerably in their accuracy of fit due to dimensional variance. The result? Many aftermarket parts can leave your customer’s Chrysler Group LLC vehicle with noticeable gaps and mismatched body panel edges. And mismatched parts often take longer to install, raising costs that you have to pass on to your customer.
Since Mopar’s collision parts are made for Chrysler Group vehicles, these parts undergo impact tests on vehicles—like the ones you fix in your shop. These tests ensure that every part meets or exceeds Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS). The result? A part that performs in perfect harmony with each component and system on your customer’s vehicle.
Mopar engineers have evaluated the imitation collision parts available in the aftermarket. What they found is these parts just don’t meet Chrysler Group standards. In fact, studies show that generic parts deviate considerably in their accuracy of fit, due to dimensional variance, and that as many as four out of five non-OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) aftermarket crash parts are inferior to OEM parts.* So why take chances with your customer’s vehicle using this type of part?.
Authentic Collision Repair Parts by Mopar preserve the integrity of the vehicle. For example, Mopar glass has been tested to ensure that it can (1) contribute to the strength of the roof structure, to help reduce crushing of the roof in the event of a collision or rollover, (2) redirect the air bag to help properly position it in front of the passenger, (3) help reduce the chance of the passenger being thrown through the windshield in the event of an accident and (4) help prevent improper installation, which can cause wind noise and water leaks.
The same level of high-grade galvanized sheet metal and protective electrostatic coating used to manufacture your customer’s vehicle is in Mopar’s collision parts. That stands to reason since these parts utilize the same quality materials, paints and coatings as your customer’s vehicle. So when your repair is made, the repair parts match the vehicle’s factory paint and come with the same level of corrosion protection as the vehicle did when it was new.
It’s important to note, too, that all steel is not the same. In recent years the use of High Strength, Low Alloy (HSLA) steel has increased significantly. Be aware that many suppliers of imitation collision parts may not be using the correct grade of sheet metal.
Because generic aftermarket parts don’t meet these same standards employed by Chrysler Group, those parts might not wear as well on your customer’s Chrysler Group vehicle. Thickness of aftermarket metal is often compromised and many parts are more susceptible to wear and corrosion because their coating standards are not as stringent as those followed by Chrysler Group. And, material tests show most generic metal parts lack the outer zinc plating. Tests of the plastic parts reveal they become brittle and unsafe at low temperatures.
Using fenders as a benchmark, Mopar engineers subjected both Mopar’s collision parts and an imitation aftermarket part to an SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) standard salt spray test. After only 20 hours, the generic part began to rust. After 96 hours, the Mopar part still showed no sign of corrosion.
Authentic Collision Repair Parts by Mopar are the only parts protected by the Chrysler Group LLC New Vehicle Anticorrosion Limited Warranty. Generic aftermarket and salvage parts from the salvage yard are not covered.
In addition, if a generic aftermarket or salvage part causes any corrosion to bleed onto original parts, the affected will not be covered. And if one of these non-Mopar parts causes damage to wiring or air bag deployment you could be placing more than your customer’s warranty in jeopardy.
Your local Chrysler Group dealer can help you buy Mopar collision parts at very competitive prices—and still allow both parties a profit.
The first thing that you have to do in order to buy competitively priced Mopar collision parts is become a wholesale account of your local Chrysler Group dealer—with a good working relationship. How does that happen?
Well, you and your local Chrysler Group dealer have to get to know each other and that begins with talking. The Chrysler Group dealer needs to know your business and have a good understanding of your business. If the dealer knows you and your business well, it’s easier for them to help you and get the parts that you need at competitive prices.
Finally, let’s talk about the value of your customer’s vehicle. Keeping it in like-new condition helps ensure that your customer will receive the greatest return on their investment when they decide to sell. If they lease their vehicle, they are expected to return it up-to-standard, otherwise, they might have to pay additional termination charges. Authentic Collision Repair Parts by Mopar help protect your customer’s investment and minimize the possibility of their vehicle losing value unnecessarily.
