Fiat engine technology and vehicle platforms will have a big influence on Chrysler product by 2014 according to a Nov. 4, 2009, show and tell at Chrysler headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich., by CEO Sergio Marchionne and his team. Moreover, Chrysler will grow Mopar®, according to both C. Robert Kidder, Chairman of the Board, and Mopar President Pietro Gorlier. The latter said, “To add value for Chrysler, Jeep®, Dodge and Ram brands, Mopar must expand its historical strengths as a brand and as a parts provider into areas of service and service excellence.”
Fiat’s powertrain technologies will be added to Chrysler’s portfolio—innovations such as Fiat’s breakthrough electro-hydraulic “MultiAir” valve timing system that gives more power, torque and fuel economy.
Reproduced here are the charts that were revealed during the presentations. They show Chrysler’s current schedule for new product introductions through the next five years. Not on these schedules is the much-anticipated introduction of the Fiat 500, Europe’s Car of the Year when it hit the scene in 2009. It will be sold under the Fiat nameplate starting in 2010.
