Seal the Deal

A 2007–2010 Jeep® Wrangler (JK) Mopar® O.E. replacement door is e-coated and then shipped from the factory without door sealant. The door must be sealed properly in order to prevent water leaks into the vehicle and corrosion.

4-STEP PROCESS

The door-sealing procedure is a 4-step process. Be sure to have the following products available: 3M 08984 General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner (or equivalent), Fusor 129 Controlled Flow Seam Sealer and a LORD Fusor 301 Manual Dispensing Gun.

1. Clean the seam sealer application area with 3M 08984 General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner or equivalent.
2. Abrade the application area with a scuff pad and assure no bare metal has been exposed.
NOTE: If bare metal has been exposed corrosion protection must be applied per paint manufacturers recommendations and abraded with a scuff pad prior to applying seam sealer.
3. Apply Fusor 129 Controlled Flow Seam Sealer, or equivalent, per manufacturer’s recommendations.

4. Sealer must completely fill in gap between lower/upper weather-strip channel and inner-door panel at top of the lower weather-strip channels as shown in Figure 3.
