BLOOD, SWEAT AND RED

As you can probably tell, we love red cars! We purchased this 1972 ‘Cuda for $800 over 22 years ago. It is a 340, 4-speed car with 68,000 original miles. We’ve been slowly restoring it over the years. The Dodge SRT4® has a stage 5 Hahn Turbo kit that I installed last summer and plan to test on the drag strip this spring since I have it all dialed in. It’s supposed to be an 11-second car with street tires and muffler. Guess we’ll see soon!

MOPAR FAMILY

Here’s a picture of my Mopar family. I’m the original owner of the 1973 Dodge Challenger Ralleye survivor car. It has 57,000 miles on it, a 340 4-bbl engine, automatic transmission and matching numbers. We also have a 1970 Dodge Challenger 340 4-speed, a 1970 ’Cuda 440-6 automatic, and a 1971 HEMI® ’Cuda Convertible 4-speed. We enjoy driving the cars and taking them to shows. Thank you for the Reader Rides section of your magazine. We enjoy Mopar Magazine.

DUST UP

Here are a couple of shots of my restored 1972 Plymouth Duster—I’m hoping to see it in the pages of Mopar Magazine. It has a 340 engine, Holley Street Dominator™ intake with 600 carb, JET-HOT coated headers, Mopar electronic ignition, M/T valve covers, Milodon low-profile oil pan, Centerforce dual friction clutch, pistol grip shifted A-833 4-speed, 8 ¾" posi rear with 3.55 gears, and Yukon axles with large-bolt pattern. I have also swapped over to large-bolt disc brakes in front. It has a full restored interior with racing bucket seats, new carpet and door panels. All the work was accomplished at home with help from Cody. I enjoy taking it to the weekly car show at the Treasure Coast Mall here in Florida.

MEAN GREEN DEMON

Here’s a photo of my 1971 Dodge Demon 340. I bought the car when I was 13 and I’m currently a 19-year-old student at Virginia Tech. My dad and I completely restored it. It has a 402 cid Mopar Magnum® crate motor in it, 4-wheel disc brakes, Dana 60 rear, Gear Vendors overdrive unit, and custom painted demon decals on the fenders. I have always wanted to send Mopar Magazine a picture of it, but have never gotten around to it until now. If you have room in the Readers Rides section, that would be awesome.

PRIDE IN MY RIDE

It’s not a HEMI ’Cuda, not a 440 Road Runner, not a 340 Duster, or a Superbird. It’s my 1997 Plymouth Neon Highline 4-door sedan, which I purchased new and drive every day. Plymouth reliability is the stuff of legend, and mine carries that mantle very well. With 130,000+ miles on the clock, it’s the best car that I’ve ever owned and a joy to drive. With the Plymouth brand no longer in production, I figure that anyone driving one now is doing so because they love the car. I dare say that with the Neon having been a low-priced car, that many were bought, beat into the ground and then junked. First generation Neons are becoming rarer on the road, a fact that only increases my pride in my ride.
