Grassroots racers have a simple way to reap additional financial rewards—run with Mopar® parts.
Mopar has renewed its Mopar Contingency Program for the 2009 NHRA Full Throttle and Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. The program offers financial rewards to Mopar-powered grassroots racers competing with specified Mopar parts. The renewal marks the Company’s commitment to the long-running Mopar Contingency Program. Drivers competing in Competition, Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Top Sportsman, and Top Dragster classes in both series are eligible for Mopar contingency rewards. Eligible parts in the Mopar Contingency Program include the Mopar Engine Assembly, Mopar Cylinder Heads, Mopar Ignition, Mopar Valve Covers and the Mopar Center Section.
Competitors utilizing the specified Mopar contingency parts must display a Mopar contingency decal on each side of their race car. Drivers scoring an event win or runner-up finish qualify for financial rewards from the Mopar Contingency Program. For example, an NHRA Super Stock class competitor campaigning with all five specified components of the Mopar Contingency Program has the opportunity to take home an additional $1,700 in prize money with an event win.
“Mopar understands the vital role of grassroots racers who continuously campaign with Mopar parts and display an unparalleled passion for the brand,” said Jim Sassorossi, Director, Global Parts Sales & Marketing – Mopar Parts. “Renewing the Mopar Contingency Program enables us to reward these devoted brand ambassadors who consistently demonstrate the winning power and performance of Mopar parts at the drag strip.”
Houma, La., native Joe Teuton Jr. is just one example of the many grassroots racers who have benefited from the Mopar Contingency Program. Teuton earned contingency rewards earlier this year while driving his 1968 Super Stock A/H HEMI® Barracuda to victory at the NHRA points events in Bradenton, Fla. and with a runner-up finish at the Gainesville, Fla. points event. “I can get a greater financial reward with Mopar than I can with any other contingency decal or sponsor,” said Teuton. “My two biggest payouts were from Mopar. We appreciate everything we get from Mopar, and hopefully they can keep it up.”
