Competition  Drift Challenger Build

Birthing Process

Words: Darren Jacobs

It’s a painstaking, back-breaking endeavor, bringing a new race car to life. Teams invest months of hard work, long hours and sweat equity in the build, far away from the roar of the crowd and the flash of the cameras. It’s an unglamorous role, yet one fully embraced by the Shaun Carlson-led NuFormz Racing squad, charged with the creation of the new Mopar® Drift Dodge Challenger.

The crew furiously chopped, wrenched, welded and drilled in order to ready the Mopar Challenger for its November 2008 SEMA Show debut, with loads more work required at press time before two-time Team Mopar Formula Drift (FD) champion Samuel Hübinette steers the car in 2009 FD competition. Here’s a peek at the “birthing stages” of the Mopar Drift Dodge Challenger, with narration provided by NuFormz crew chief Brad Manka.
