Entire Challenger Lineup Unveiled in the Big Apple

Chrysler LLC officials used the stage of the New York International Auto Show to unveil the entire 2009 Dodge Challenger lineup in March. Three models will be offered in North America: The Challenger SE, Challenger R/T and Challenger SRT8®. The Challenger SRT8 was unveiled in February at the Chicago Auto Show (see March/April issue of Mopar Magazine).

The Challenger SE gets its power from a 3.5-liter High Output V6. The R/T and SRT8 get their motivation from HEMIs, of course—5.7L and 6.1L respectively.

“Our all-new 2009 Dodge Challenger is a modern-day muscle machine representing the best from the past and present,” Director of the Dodge Brand and SRT Marketing Michael Accavitti told reporters in New York. “Thirty-five years after the debut of the original, we’re bringing Dodge Challenger back and loading it with the essential hardware, styling and technology desired by today’s buyers.”

The Dodge Challenger is the first five-passenger, two-door coupe produced from Chrysler’s proven rear-wheel-drive LX platform, which also underpins the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger.
